What our fund does...

The Fund was set up in 1934 in memory of Sydney George Edridge OBE, the founder and first General Secretary of Napo, and is now an independent registered charity.

Eligibility to benefit from the Edridge Fund extends to anyone in the Probation Service or Cafcass who is eligible to be a member of Napo, and their dependents.

This includes retired staff.

The Edridge Fund supports Probation and Cafcass staff

at times of stress and

financial crisis.

Most Probation and Cafcass areas have an Edridge Rep who deals with enquiries and encourages colleagues to support the fund.

Most applications for help are sent direct to Richard Martin our Secretary, but you can discuss your application with your local Edridge Representative, but you can also telephone or email  Richard if you are not sure about anything.

The Trustees consider most applications by exchanging views by email, and these decisions are ratified at the next Trustee meeting, which happens every two months. In case of emergencies applications can be dealt with very quickly. In all cases we try to deal with applications within three weeks, but the decision is often faster than that.
